I wanted to share an old poem for this occasion:
The Scent of Snow
Snow breaks odor into a new geometry;
hexagonal kaleidoscopes of dots overlap
like rock paintings moving through a dream
by a sleeping hunter in the polar twilight;
his dogs curled deep in their furry smells
mutter, twitching and jerking,
still pulling against the lines of reality.
