I enjoy teaching but there's no denying it takes so much of my energy-- at least how I tend to do it, and I've studied others to see how they can teach with lower energy and still make it positive; it's a skill I know that I need to have.
If there's one emotional skill I wish everybody in America had, it would be the ability to stop and admire others' divergent styles as well as those who seem to be in your mold of style, only superior in skill. That's how you learn to appreciate your own strengths and weaknesses in a more honest way.
Tomorrow's goal is relatively simple, but it will challenge me where I worry I'm the most weak in my teaching skill: leading class discussions, letting them do the work of thinking and learning, while keeping them on the goal track set for them. That means less energy, more goal. Grown-up life.
